BROW LAMINATIONS:
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW INCLUDING TIPS, TRICKS BENEFITS AND MISCONCEPTIONS.
In the early 2000s skinny brows were all the range with over plucking and shaving being everyone’s go-to look, but since the King Kylie (miss Kylie Jenner) era in 2016 big brows are back and better than ever. Although, in recent years with the natural ‘clean girl’ aesthetic taking over, especially in the current year of 2024 brow laminations are more popular than ever with more and more of us ditching the brow gel and booking a brow lamination. In this entry I will tell all including my fave aftercare products to use as well as all you can gain as both a client and a beautician about this treatment.
WHAT IS A BROW LAMINATION?
A brow lamination, also referred to as a brow lift or perm is a very popular cosmetic treatment involving shaping and setting the individual brow hairs giving a fuller and fluffier-looking brow giving the client a more lifted appearance almost instantly! While there are various ways to achieve this look with for example the use of other treatments or makeup, the brow lamination remains on top!
HOW MUCH DOES A BROW LAMINATION COST?
The cost of a brow lamination can vary depending on your beautician’s experience, your location, the calibre of products being used and competition in the area. The average cost of a lamination in Manchester where the Holly Stott Beauty Academy is based is between £30-£45 for a full treatment (usually with tint).
BENEFITS OF A BROW LAMINATION:
Brow laminations mimic the illusion of fuller more defined brows, with or without a tint. The treatment relaxes the natural hairs allowing us to manipulate the hairs into our desired shape for up to six weeks! It is definitely one of those treatments that include being high maintenance to stay low maintenance this summer. They require minimal aftercare although nourishing your brows when they get dry is key to making your brow lamination lasts and ensuring your hairs remain looked after throughout those six weeks. Saying that, this is very minimal aftercare compared to other treatments and just in general. Brow laminations can help to disguise the appearance of gaps in the brows as a result of overplucking/waxing from earlier trends as well as remaining to be a relatively quick treatment taking between 30-45 minutes which client will love and this allows you beauticians to either have a break between your clients or schedule even more in (get that bag sis).
MISCONCEPTIONS OF BROW LAMINATIONS:
Some people are afraid to take the leap to book in or train when it comes to brow laminations as a result of a few misconceptions circulating on the internet such as the treatment damaging the natural brow hairs. This simply isn’t true as well as aftercare is consistent with the client and the brow technician you are going to is fully trained and understands how to carry out the treatment! My fave aftercare that I recommend to all of my bro lam clients has to be the saint and serenity (@saintandserenity on Instagram) silk drops. The brand just gets brows, and their second skin product works as a skin barrier decreasing redness and client discomfort when talking about waxing which I think is a revolutionary product in the world of brows. I had this issue time and time again when clients were sensitive to waxing as a baby tech and this product has answered my prayers! A further misconception is that brows are frozen in place after a lamination and your hairs stay in place for six weeks, once again not true (I wish) but the purpose of the treatment is to relax the hairs to give that fuller fluffy illusion not completely freeze them down, although the treatment is said to mimic the ‘soap brow’ trend. Now that I have debunked all your fears, what’s stopping you?
THE VERDICT ON BROW LAMINATIONS:
If you’re looking for a way to achieve that full and fluffy brow with a perfect shape to them, a brow lamination could be the treatment for you! It aids in taming unruly brows and give that illusion of fuller and thicker brows disguising any gaps.
Keep in mind that brow laminations last 6-8 weeks when performed by a licensed and experienced professional, a brow lamination is safe to have.
They are an ideal treatment to offer to clients being so popular today and broaden your treatment menu and experience as a beautician.
